Hey everyone, and welcome to this week’s installment of TraQing News! From online furniture shopping to solar window blinds, here are some of our favorite articles from last week to get you back into the swing of working:

Amazon Wants To Sell You More Furniture & Appliances, But Can It Deliver? | Chris Morran: sabri-tuzcu-187162Where’d you get that new couch? For a growing number of people, the answer is online. Amazon wants to be on the front line of furniture and appliance e-tail, and they’re setting up the infrastructure to achieve the goal. The challenges will be steep, but we’ll see how their gamble plays out.

The iPhone 7 Plus might have killed the iPad Mini | Brett Williams: Rumor has it that the end is nigh for the iPad Mini. Surprisingly, its end may be the result of so-called “self-cannibalization”. As screens on iPhones (especially the “Plus” models, such as the iPhone 7 Plus) grow larger, the demand for smaller tablets falls. Instead of having a very portable tablet, “phablets” offer more use and cross into the territory that once belonged to mini tablets like the iPad Mini.

These solar panel window blinds generate energy while blocking rays | Barbara Eldredge: As an apartment dweller, I sometimes feel a little left out when there are big announcements like Elon Musk’s solar shingles for roofs. But the knowledge that window blinds that are also solar panels is enough to cheer me right back up! While they aren’t as powerful as large roof installations, they will certainly help make apartment living more eco-friendly.

Understanding Gen Z’s Mobile Expectations In Today’s New Shopping Era | Jeff Fromm: The death of physical retail may be exaggerated, but the importance of mobile & e-commerce strategies are undeniable. An entire generation who’ve always had access to the internet as we now know it is getting ready to become active in the economy. A certain fluidity (and consistency) between physical and digital retail will be key to keeping the attention of Gen Z shoppers.
